This 19th-century Swedish reading table is a rare and versatile piece of Scandinavian craftsmanship, designed with both form and function in mind. Crafted from solid wood, the table features a tilting book rest with an open compartment beneath, ideal for holding books, manuscripts, or writing materials. Charmingly there is a slightly elevated stand where a wax candle would have been placed.
The original deep blue-green paint, now beautifully aged with a rich patina, adds to its rustic appeal. A turned pedestal base with a uniquely shaped cross-foot provides stability and character, making it a wonderful statement piece for a library, study, or reading nook. Kristin loves styling it with a container of flowers and branches.
